Dear Friends,
Greetings and welcome to our 54th season!
Heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made our 53rd season so successful! We could not have done it without our exceptional musicians, Board of Trustees, sponsors, individual patrons, and, of course, our loyal and devoted audience who filled the hall each week and gave us resounding standing ovations. We are proud to know that the Sebago-Long Lake Music Festival has become such a summer highlight for so many residents and visitors in southwestern Maine.
It is hard to believe that it has been ten years since I became the SLLMF’s Music Director in 2016. To celebrate this significant milestone, I thought to present each program to reflect my appreciation to the most amazing roster of musicians who I call my friends and to the fantastic Board that I work with very closely. They make my role as Director incredibly joyous and meaningful, and I am truly grateful.
I am thrilled to welcome back our phenomenal performers, along with new, fantastic artists who will join us for the first time. We will showcase our artists in some of the most beloved and distinct masterworks in the chamber music repertoire in our upcoming season – Schubert’s Trout Quintet, Schumann’s Piano Quintet, Dvořák’s Viola Quintet, Debussy’s Harp Trio, Farrenc’s Nonet, Beethoven’s Serenade, Martinů’s Madrigals, Mozart’s Clarinet Trio, Schnittke’s Piano Quintet, and Brahms’ Horn Trio and Piano Quartet. In addition, as it has become our tradition, we will include lesser known but just as marvelous works by Glière, Mendelssohn, Saint-Saëns, and Weber. I hope you are getting excited reading about our upcoming season.
For the artists who perform at the Festival, a highly valued part of their experience is this deepening connection with our devoted audience and vibrant musical community. We will continue to present world-class concerts while also finding more ways to enrich the lives of everyone in our community through the vitality of live music by offering our community outreach programs in more intimate venues in many surrounding towns. Of course, we also look forward to our repeat performance on Chebeague Island, as well as in New Hampshire and in Connecticut.
We encourage you to continue to check our website for more details, such as full bios of our artists, as well as information on how to donate to the Festival. We also invite you to “like” us on Facebook and ask you to spread the word about the Festival to your friends and introduce them to our concerts. Please note that by purchasing a season ticket for all five concerts, you will receive many benefits, including a savings on tickets and invitations to post-concert receptions. Also, keep in mind that all those under 21 are admitted to our concerts free of charge.
Thank you for your love and support, and I look forward to seeing you at the opening concert on July 14th!
Warmly,
Mihae Lee
Music Director
